Everyone has a few questions from time to time so we thought we would try and answer some of those for you below.
1. I want to fund my campaign on your website, where do I start?
This is an easy one. On our home page, there is a button you can click that says register. On accessing this you will be able to create a profile and campaign for your project. Fill in all the details and make sure you give a good description of your venture, add some photos and videos if possible and then state target goals and fabulous rewards. We have created a guide that should help you on your journey. Any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us and we can walk you through your campaign. We also run through your submitted campaign before it goes live so we can work with you before the world sees it!
2. I’ve not got any backers? What am I doing something wrong?
Its o.k, don’t panic. There are many ways in which you can get your campaign noticed. Firstly have you told your family and friends? Even a few donations from your nearest and dearest can show potential backers there is something great to invest in! The ideal thing is to try and round a few of your friends or colleagues and create a small team to help you with your marketing. Now if you have done this already, brilliant, if not then there is always time. Sharing the load and also using other people’s skills is invaluable and highly recommended. Social media is a fantastic way of creating a buzz around your project. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and even LinkedIn can all be helpful. Create a page or contact groups. The press and media are also a great way of telling the world about your campaign. How about the local paper, such as London Evening Standard or Metro. How about London specific outlets such as Timeout London, LondonLive? If it is an app or technology there are lots of niche websites and blogs that would be interested in what you are doing. We have a many ways to share your campaign directly from the site so you can tell everyone online what are you promoting.
There are so many available these days that there is definitely one suited for your venture. How about throwing a local event or putting up posters in your area, you could even create some leaflets to give out. Remember, keep positive, there are lots of people out there who would love to help, they just need to know where you are and what an amazing idea you have!
3. I’m a bit nervous about telling the world about my idea, what if they laugh?
Everyone starts somewhere. You could be surprised to know that a large number of developers, start-ups and inventors have tried many times before they succeed because they believe in their idea. If you believe in what you are doing, then let yourself shine. London Idea believes there is nothing better than creating your own business and doing what you really want for a living. As London idea is all about doing great worthwhile projects for community benefit, why would anyone laugh? Don’t let anyone tell you different.
4.What are the chances of reaching my target?
If you have got a good business idea, you have promoted your campaign and have a good strategy pre-campaign you have every chance in the world of reaching your target and we offer the opportunity for over funding too!. Remember promote, promote, promote and be realistic about your goals. If you choose to offer rewards then they are enticing and achievable. If you are relying on donation alone then make sure to let people know how beneficial and helpful your project is to the community.
5. What are your fees?
We take 4% which is added onto the goal amount for your campaign prior to it going live. Make sure though you take account of any card processing fees too from people donating.
We also offer a campaign management package that can take care of all the promoting for you. Contact us to find out more!
6. As London Idea is London based, can we pop in for a chat?
We love to entertain and of course, we would love to meet you! We are happy to come to you or you can come to us. Just contact us and we can arrange to meet up.
7.What happens if I don’t meet my target what happens to my money?
We offer all or nothing campaigning. So with all of nothing, you need to reach your target goal, if not then all the money is returned to the backers. All or nothing campaigns can potentially mean higher donations and people really want to help you reach your goal so you can get the funding you need.
8. Who’s responsibility is it to complete the project as promised?
Now it is important to remember that it is the campaign and projects creator’s responsibility to complete their project. London Idea is not involved in this part of the process.
London Idea does not guarantee projects or investigate a creator’s ability to complete their project and deliver on their promises. London Idea wants you the backer to be sure before backing a project on the validity and worthiness of a project and ultimately whether you want to fund them. We speak to and discuss all campaigns with project creators before they upload them, but ultimately it is your responsibility to feel confident in backing and donating to the project of your choice.
